Peer-Review Process

All scientific articles submitted to the journal "Microsystems, Electronics and Acoustics" (MEA) undergo a mandatory peer review process to ensure high publication quality and adherence to academic integrity standards.

1. General Provisions

The journal employs a single-blind peer review model. This format ensures an objective and critical evaluation of the manuscript by independent experts.

2. Manuscript Workflow

  1. Initial Screening (Pre-check): The Editorial Office reviews the manuscript for alignment with the journal's scope, formatting compliance, and absence of plagiarism. If a paper is rejected at this stage, authors are notified within 7–10 days.

  2. Assignment of Reviewers: Each manuscript is sent to at least two independent reviewers (external experts or editorial board members) who are specialists in the relevant field.

  3. Reviewer Evaluation: Reviewers assess the relevance, scientific novelty, methodology, reliability of results, and the quality of illustrative materials.

  4. Editorial Decision: Based on the reviewers' reports, the Editorial Board makes one of the following decisions:

    • Accept for publication (no revisions required).

    • Accept with minor revisions.

    • Resubmit for major revisions (requires second round of review).

    • Reject the manuscript.

3. Reviewing Manuscripts by Editorial Board Members

To ensure objectivity and avoid conflicts of interest, special procedures are applied when considering articles authored by Editorial Board members or the Chief Editor:

  • Such authors are completely recused from the discussion and decision-making process regarding their own manuscript.

  • Peer review is conducted exclusively by independent external experts who have no shared publications or affiliations with the author within the last 2 years.

  • The processing of these manuscripts is managed by another board member who has no conflict of interest, ensuring that the evaluation remains as rigorous as it is for any other submission.

4. Reviewer Obligations and Timelines

  • Reviewers are committed to maintaining confidentiality and must disclose any potential conflicts of interest.

  • The standard review period is 4–6 weeks; however, this timeframe may vary depending on the complexity of the research.

5. Interaction with Authors

Authors receive copies of the review reports (anonymized). If revisions are required, authors must provide a corrected version of the article along with a point-by-point response to the comments within the specified deadline. The final decision regarding publication is made by the Chief Editor (or a designated deputy if the author is the Chief Editor).
