Publication ethics

The Editorial Board of the scientific and technical journal "Microsystems, Electronics and Acoustics" (MEA) adheres to publication ethics principles that comply with generally recognized international standards, specifically the recommendations of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), as well as the Publication Policy of the National Technical University of Ukraine "Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute."

We are committed to ensuring high-quality scientific publications, transparency in the peer-review process, and adherence to academic integrity by all participants in the editorial and publishing process.

1. Duties and Responsibilities of Authors

  • Originality and Plagiarism: Authors must ensure that the submitted manuscript is entirely original research work. Any borrowings (text, ideas, images) must be properly cited. Plagiarism in all its forms (from copying significant portions of text to "self-plagiarism") is unacceptable.

  • Data Reliability: Authors are required to provide accurate results and an objective discussion of the significance of the work. Fraud or deliberate provision of inaccurate data constitutes a gross ethical violation.

  • Manuscript Authorship: Authorship should be limited to individuals who have made a significant contribution to the conception, design, execution, or interpretation of the study. All co-authors must review the final version of the article and consent to its publication.

  • Disclosure of Conflicts of Interest: Authors must disclose any financial or personal conflicts of interest that might influence the results or their interpretation (e.g., funding sources, grants).

  • Multiple Submission: Simultaneous submission of the same manuscript to more than one publication is considered unethical and is grounds for rejection.

2. Duties and Responsibilities of Reviewers

  • Objectivity: Peer review must be conducted impartially. Personal criticism of the author is impermissible. All comments must be supported by arguments.

  • Confidentiality: Any manuscript received for review must be treated as a confidential document. It must not be shown to or discussed with others without permission from the Chief Editor.

  • Identification of Violations: Reviewers should bring to the attention of the editorial board any substantial similarity between the manuscript and already published works or any suspicion of data manipulation.

  • Conflict of Interest: A reviewer must decline to review a manuscript if they have competitive, collaborative, or other relationships with the authors or institutions associated with the paper.

3. Ethics of Artificial Intelligence (AI) Usage

In accordance with the Publisher's policy, we adhere to the following rules:

    • Authorship Prohibition: AI technologies (such as LLMs, ChatGPT, etc.) cannot be listed as authors or co-authors, as authorship implies responsibility that AI cannot assume.

    • <lш>

Declaration of Use: If AI was used for data collection, analysis, or the creation of graphical materials, authors are required to clearly state this in the "Methods" section or in a separate statement.

  • Responsibility: Authors bear full responsibility for the accuracy, integrity, and absence of plagiarism in content generated with AI assistance.

  • Editing: Use of AI for language and grammar improvement is permitted but must not alter the scientific substance of the research.

4. Duties and Responsibilities of Editors

  • Publication Decision: The Editor-in-Chief is responsible for deciding which articles will be published based on the scientific merit of the work and the reviewers' conclusions.

  • Equality: Editors evaluate manuscripts solely for their scientific content, regardless of the authors' race, gender, religious beliefs, citizenship, or political views.

  • Transparency: The Editorial Office ensures reviewer anonymity ("single-blind peer review"), allowing experts to provide objective assessments without revealing their identity to the authors.

5. Procedures for Ethical Violations

We take all instances of unethical behavior seriously. In case of identified violations (plagiarism, data falsification, hidden conflicts of interest):

  • The Editorial Office conducts an internal investigation, involving authors for explanations.

  • If the violation is confirmed prior to publication, the manuscript is immediately rejected.

  • If the violation is discovered after publication, the Editorial Office may initiate an article retraction or publish an erratum/correction in accordance with COPE protocols.

6. Advertising Policy

Advertising materials on the journal's website (if any) are clearly separated from scientific content. Advertising does not influence editorial decisions. The Publisher avoids placing advertisements that could create a conflict of interest or contradict the principles of scientific ethics.
