Peer Review

All scientific articles submitted to the Scientific and Technical Journal GEOENGINEERING undergo an initial editorial assessment followed by double-blind peer review.

Initial Editorial Assessment

After submission, each manuscript undergoes an initial assessment by the Editorial Team. At this stage, the manuscript is checked for its relevance to the journal's scope and the selected section, compliance with the manuscript requirements, completeness of the required metadata, and adherence to the fundamental principles of publication ethics and research integrity.

A manuscript that falls outside the scope of the journal or does not meet the basic submission requirements may be returned to the author for revision or rejected without external peer review.

Double-Blind Peer Review

Manuscripts that successfully pass the initial editorial assessment are sent to at least two independent reviewers with relevant scientific expertise in the subject area of the study.

The journal applies double-blind peer review: the identities of the authors are not disclosed to the reviewers, and the identities of the reviewers are not disclosed to the authors.

Reviewers assess the relevance of the research problem, relevance to the journal's scope, scientific novelty and originality, appropriateness of the methodology, validity and completeness of the results and their discussion, validity of the conclusions, scientific and practical significance of the results, currency and relevance of the references, structure and quality of presentation, as well as issues related to research integrity and research ethics.

Peer Review Outcomes

Following the review, each reviewer provides the Editorial Team with an assessment of the manuscript and a recommendation in accordance with the journal's editorial procedure. Comments and recommendations intended for the authors are communicated without revealing the reviewer's identity.

If revisions are required, the author is given an opportunity to submit a revised version of the manuscript together with responses to the reviewers' comments. Where necessary, the revised manuscript may be sent for an additional round of peer review.

Editorial Decision

The final decision to accept or reject a manuscript is made by the editor, taking into account the reviewers' reports, the manuscript's relevance to the scientific scope of the journal, and compliance with the journal's editorial policies.

Materials published in the Editor's Page section do not undergo external scientific peer review and are subject to editorial review.

Confidentiality and Conflicts of Interest

Manuscripts received for review are treated as confidential documents. Reviewers must not use or disclose unpublished materials or research results without permission from the authors and the Editorial Team.

Reviewers must inform the Editorial Team of any potential conflict of interest that could affect the objectivity of the review and should decline the review if such a conflict prevents an impartial assessment of the manuscript.
